Prep - Chemical Sciences
Big Bang Education’s ‘What’s It Made From?’ program has been designed to help teachers achieve the Australian Curriculum science understanding in Chemical Sciences:
- Objects are made of materials that have observable properties (ACSSU003)
Students will participate in a hands-on workshop investigating materials found in everyday objects, and identifying some of the properties of these materials through their observations and experimentation.
Workshops are delivered by a professional science educator with over 10 years of experience.
If you’d like to book your Prep students in for our ‘What’s It Made From?’ program, please contact us.
The program includes:
- 60 minute session with hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations for each individual class (maximum of 30 children)
Depending on your daily timetable, we can cater for 2-5 classes per day.
- A large indoor space – your school hall is ideal! Due to the nature of this program, it can be conducted in a classroom; however we do require to be set up in the same room for all sessions.
- 8 tables for workshop materials
No access to power or water is required for this program.
The ‘What’s It Made From?’ Chemical Sciences program covers the following areas of the Australian Curriculum (version 8.1).
Objects are made of materials that have observable properties (ACSSU003)
Science involves observing, asking questions about, and describing changes in, objects and events (ACSHE013)
Pose and respond to questions about familiar objects and events (ACSIS014)
Participate in guided investigations and make observations using the senses (ACSIS011)
Engage in discussions about observations and represent ideas (ACSIS233)
Share observations and ideas (ACSIS012)
